How is Netco phone service different from my standard telephone service? Netco.com uses your existing broadband Internet connection to deliver a cost-effective alternative to the traditional phone company. By using your broadband connection for both your data and telephony needs, you're able to take full advantage of the bandwidth you're already paying for, thus reducing your monthly communication costs.

Who can use the Netco service? Anyone with a broadband Internet connection.

Can I use the Netco service with my office PBX? Yes! The Netco MTA may installed between your PBX and broadband modem thereby enabling all the telephones that are connected to your PBX to take advantage of the VoIP service without the need for new telephones or other expensive equipment.

How do I make a phone call using Netco service? Making and receiving calls with Netco service is exactly the same as with the traditional phone companies. Netco enables you to use your existing telephony handset to make broadband voice calls.

How do I make an International call? To make International calls, just dial your international access code followed by the country code, and then the number, just like you would from any other telephone.

Will my regular home phone work with Netco service or will I need a special one? You can use any standard analog telephone to connect with your Netco MTA. The same phone you currently have plugged into your traditional phone line should work just fine, even cordless phones! The phone must support Tone dialing as opposed to Pulse (or Rotary) dialing. Digital phones (such as those used with PBX systems) will not work.

If I move, can I take my phone number with me? Yes, you can. If you move, you can take your phone number with you without any configuration changes - just plug your MTA into your broadband connection at your new location. You can even take your MTA with you when you travel; your number follows you!

Can I have multiple phone lines? Yes! Our MTAs typically support two or more lines. Additional MTAs may be purchased if you need more lines. Multi-line discounted rate plans will be announced soon. For business users it will be possible to reduce the number of lines you currently rent from your existing telecommunications provider thereby increasing your savings.

What kind of phone number can I have with my Netco service? If you or your organization needs phone numbers outside the United States please select the appropriate region on our welcome page. If you need numbers in multiple regions please contact our sales staff directly at JabFonSales@Netco.com.

Where can I use Netco? You can use your Netco service anywhere in the world where you have a broadband Internet connection, regardless of your location and local phone number.

What if I take my Netco.com overseas? Your Netco number is a U.S. based telephone number. For example, if you are in New Zealand with an Netco number based in Los Angeles, anyone else who lives in the Los Angeles area can make a local toll call to reach you.

Do the people I call have to be using your service? No, Netco.com service uses the traditional telephone network to terminate your call. You can call any regular phone number from Netco.

Can I use my Internet Connection while I'm on the phone? Yes! You can continue to surf the web, read email and use instant messenger services while using your Netco! The service does use a portion of your internet bandwidth to make the call, however it should not interfere with your regular internet use. You may notice a slight slowdown on large file transfers, but only while on the phone.

What are the rates for inbound calls? All inbound calls are free.

Is it free to call other Netco customers? Yes! All calls between Netco customers in the same country are free.

What forms of payment does Netco accept? We currently accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express and can bill in multiple currencies. Netco also allows customers to create monthly accounts and to pay by check or direct credit.

What kind of effect would this have on my bandwidth usage? When the Netco service is not in use, the bandwidth used is just a few packets a minute.

I just signed up and am waiting for my install package...will it contain my new phone number? Your phone number is sent to you in the email you receive after you sign up.

Are there any monthly taxes or fees levied on Netco service? There are no monthly taxes or fees on the Netco service at this time. We will not be adding any additional charges unless changes in external regulations require us to.

Will my Netco service work during a power outage? It depends. If during a power outage your broadband connection will be inoperable therefore you will not be able to make or receive calls with your Netco service. Depending on your service you may be able to keep your Internet connection online with battery backup (UPS). In that case you would still be able to use the phone while the battery lasts.
